NDC Equalities documents

What are we aiming to do and how will we make it happen?

The NDC Equalities Resource Pack (2007) was developed by the Equalities Manager and Equalities Group in the New Deal for Communities Programme. The Equalities Group was a group of people from the area and from the organisations that provide services in the area. They worked since the start of the NDC to remove barriers which stop people from taking part in and benefiting from the activities, projects, events and decisions funded by the NDC Programme. The Resource Pack

The Pack is a 'dip-in' document, for use in training, writing funding applications,or planning work to make projects more inclusive. It contains:

1.     An explanation of what 'equalities' is about, why it is important within communities, the aims, and brief information on how to do equalities work.

2.     A practical guide on improving access and inclusion in terms of venues, events, equalities policies, buildings, work with volunteers. It also contains simple explanations of words linked to equalities and neighbourhood work.

3.     Information and statistics on groups that may face more or greater barriers, with local and national data, information about barriers and suggestions on how to overcome or remove them. Local and national contact details relevant to each group are also provided.

The Pack is a very large document to download, so if you would like a CD copy please email sarah.tighe-ford@brighton-hove.gov.uk
